Give me that OLD TIME Religion... 1 Peter 3

Give me that OLD TIME Religion... 1 Peter 3 ~  or  ~
What Has Happened to the IMMUTABILITY of God and His Word?

Is the controversy over women as teachers and Pastors not a matter of the misogyny and misandry so long on the earth? How does God's Plan address matters of sin, confusion and disorder between the sexes among His own?

I remember an anecdote about a child's first visit to the dentist. The dentist had a word with mom when they arrived. He told her to bring the child into the treatment room, and when he told her to sit down, she was to sit down
immediately without objection in a chair provided her. THEN he would tell the child to sit down in the BIG chair! As the example of obedience was set by mom, so the child would understand who had authority, yes, even more authority than mom. I suspect the result would have been the same if it had been dad instead of mom! That is how that dentist overcame the difficulties of having a child sit down.

How do we inspire others to obey? By being obedient.

I got to thinking after reading a glowing foreword written by Jack Hayford for a book. So I sent him my two cents worth. I got a reply from his office with a link to this article:
http://www.jackhayford.org/teaching/articles/a-womans-place-in-christ/

The following is the body of my response.

"If you look at verse 12 of 1 Timothy in the context of the whole Bible, you will see that Paul couldn't be prohibiting women from teaching, or even from teaching men. If he were, why would he, in another epistle, give rules for women to follow when they are prophesying? In 1 Corinthians 11:5, he is referring to prophetic utterances given in the midst of an entire congregation-one that includes men. And we know that prophecy can come by itself, or it can accompany either preaching or teaching. Therefore, Paul allows for the possibility of women speaking in church in the capacity of teacher." from A Woman's Place in Christ by Jack Hayford

My response:

God’s commands are not grievous, yet how we disagree and chafe, not yet fully trusting what a blessing obedience will bring!

1) Prophecy is inspired utterance, the speaking forth of the Lord's exact words. A woman who is a prophet ought not be forbidden that, yet the words she speaks are subject to the judgment of the prophets.
2) Teaching is a different matter, and teachers are held to God's judgment. They speak in the vernacular and they are not speaking saying "Thus saith the Lord." Teachers are instructors, they do not only spew facts, they give facts and words and questions with the purpose of instructing others, teaching them not just information, but how to "use" the information, how to live. People learn how to behave.  A teacher is more responsible for the effect of his words that a prophet, for by the prophet the Lord Himself is responsible. (James 3) Because of this, and in view of Eve being deceived, and Adam being accountable for willful disobedience, and in light of the special assignment for the husband to rule, the pastors and teachers are to be men charged with leading the homes and churches. That is why women are to learn from their husbands, it puts the responsibility on the husband to lead the home and teach his wife. When we turn the women loose to rule and teach in the church, even when they are more advance in the Spiritual life than their husbands, the result seems invariable that men turn all their charge to lead into the wife's hands. Men become spiritual couch potatoes. I regret to say it but it leads to women barking from lecterns and pulpits like Drill Instructors.
3) If prophecy and teaching come in the same meeting, they need to be distinct as such. And because they come in the same meeting does not change that which is the commandment of the Lord.

I think this may be reinforced in the following verses:

Ephesians 5:25-27
American Standard Version (ASV)
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it;
26 that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,
27 that he might present the church to himself a glorious church, not having spot
or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

John 17
Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
17 Set them apart for holiness by means of the truth — your word is truth.
This is not cleansing by the blood, but by the water of the word. I have not heard it taught but I see this as sanctification by the spoken word, and here a part of the charge given the husband for his wife as Christ carries it out for His Bride the church. Men are in general lazier beasts than women, and often "rule" by coercions than lead from their obedience to the Lord. In my view God has provided for men to be sanctified and perfected  through these role assignments of leaders and teachers commanded for them! Women are in general characterized more by other sins. Submission to their husbands and leaders, and submission of the husbands to leaders is the context of our sanctification.

1 Corinthians 14
33 for God is not a God of confusion, but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints,
34 let the women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but let them be in subjection, as also saith the law.
35 And if they would learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home: for it is shameful for a woman to speak in the church.

36 What? was it from you that the word of God went forth? or came it unto you alone?
37 If any man thinketh himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him take knowledge of the things which I write unto you, that they are the commandment of the Lord.

38 But if any man is ignorant, let him be ignorant.
39 Wherefore, my brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
40 But let all things be done decently and in order.

A man can both prophecy and teach to the congregation. A woman may prophesy, or pray, and certainly sing. But how clear is it:

"let him take knowledge of the things which I write unto you, that they are the commandment of the Lord."

Paul does not forbid a woman from speaking or even teaching at home, but would not teaching a husband be unseemly? Should not a woman pray instead that her husband be taught in a way by other men that equips him to teach her? I heard a marvelous story where a spiritual woman was advised: Bring your questions to your husband and ask him what they mean. As I recall it wound up being the thing that saved him! Was that what Paul had in mind?  "if they would learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home."  These are the commandments of the Lord. I have been in more than a few places where the women are in the meetings and the husbands at home, I think because they don't want to go to meeting and hear their wive speak while they have nothing to share. Put the men and women in meeting under this rule and let them speak without fear of being outshined or corrected by their wives publically.

How else are we to fathom: "for it is shameful for a woman to speak in the church." and "with shamefacedness KJV (shamefastness ASV) and sobriety;"
http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=G127&t=KJV

Dare it be suggested that Adam was shamed by Eve's disobedience? He was by his own surely, and Eve by her own surely. Angels can't learn obedience. Jesus learned by the things He suffered. Is it to much to be asked or commanded to suffer what does go against the flesh, that women be silent and that we men learn to lead?

4) Paul did give rules to women in another epistle for when they speak prophetically:

1 Corinthians 11
5 But every woman praying or prophesying with her head unveiled dishonoreth her head; for it is one and the same thing as if she were shaven.
6 For if a woman is not veiled, let her also be shorn: but if it is a shame to a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be veiled.

This passage does not change the rules forbidding women to teach, not at all! Nor does the prohibition of women teachers change the rule of this passage!

First, let's see what the different verses in this passage do not mean.

That the women adorn themselves in modest apparel (v. 9). "All women should dress as crummy as possible to verify their holiness." from A Woman's Place in Christ by Jack Hayford

This was the first of seven verses from 1 Timothy 2:8-15 listed in order to see what they do not mean. With all due respect: Can we know what the scriptures do not mean if we do not know what they do mean???

1 Peter 3
American Standard Version (ASV)
3  In like manner, ye wives, be in subjection to your won husbands; that, even if any obey not the word, they may without the word be gained by the behavior of their wives;
2 beholding your chaste behavior coupled with fear.
3 Whose adorning let it not be the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on apparel;
4 but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible apparel of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
5 For after this manner aforetime the holy women also, who hoped in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands:
6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose children ye now are, if ye do well, and are not put in fear by any terror.
7 Ye husbands, in like manner, dwell with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor unto the woman, as unto the weaker vessel, as being also joint-heirs of the grace of life; to the end that your prayers be not hindered.
8 Finally, be ye all likeminded, compassionate, loving as brethren, tenderhearted, humbleminded:

  • Women who adorn themselves with "outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on apparel." may do it out of pride or insecurity. Whatever their reasons we are generally able to identify when something is amiss in their motives.
  • Women who adorn themselves with "the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible apparel of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price." Again we can identify those whose motives are pure.

For after this manner aforetime the holy women also, who hoped in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands: as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose children ye now are, if ye do well, and are not put in fear by any terror. (1 Peter 3:5,6)

I agree that women need not dress all the way down to abjectness. But in many cases church will seem unapproachable after a certain measure of style is applied by women AND men. I think we should dress in a way so that those living in the one mile radius of our sanctuaries would be comfortable among us. It is all about revealing God's glory, and whatever distracts from that will hinder the witness, the evidence that God is with us, and we with Him in Spirit and Truth.

PS:
from my first email with edits:

The gospel does mean that the arrangement of Gen. 3 is to be lived out under the greater revelation of God's Word, Plan and Love seen in the New Covenant scriptures / teaching. The husband is now charged with great benevolence toward his wife, and great sacrifice. Yet I can see nothing that allows women to hold offices which the Lord commands she not hold. The willing and joyful acceptance of these commands is a hallmark of the peculiarity of believers set over against the world. How peculiar! A trusting obedience of both husband and wife in their DISTINCTIVE roles demonstrates the relationship of the Lord ruling over the church. The husband’s sacrificial service, even teaching and when need be correcting his bride, and the brides joyful reverence for her husband by obeying him, each as a witness to the world that: The Lord is loved and that His Word is reverenced above the word that deceived Eve and to which Adam submitted.

The Messiah is the groom to us; bridegrooms are to groom their brides in the betrothal, yes? no? But no one thinks like this anymore do they? Men and Husbands need the Lord's grooming as they are part of the Messiah's Bride. Women play a role in this, but not a teaching role.

Not for my lengthy views and words but for the simply and literal meaning of the Scriptures: "...let him take knowledge of the things which I write unto you, that they are the commandment of the Lord."

The wife: as unto the Lord.

22 Wives, be in subjection unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

The husband: as the Messiah
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it;

Women are made in God's image. But they are different than men, and called to different ministries by God. I don't have a problem with women being successful, accomplished and enriched. But Paul forbids them teaching and wrestling authority from men. WHY? Because Eve was deceived. Yes? No?

The ONLY place that TEACHING AND RULING is forbidden by Paul is in the church assemblies, and that is PRECISELY where so many women are being elevated to teaching and ruling!!!
That men permit this does not seem to me what the Lord was commanding...

Submitted publically, in fear and trembling, for:

36 What? was it from you that the word of God went forth? or came it unto you alone?
37 If any man thinketh himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him take knowledge of the things which I write unto you, that they are the commandment of the Lord.
38 But if any man is ignorant, let him be ignorant. 1 Corinthians 14

Doctrines and Demons

I will never forget the picture of an African Pastor who graced the cover of an OLD issue of the Voice of the Martyrs magazine. He was standing in the open air, not a house, road...   nothing, only he and some shrubs and grass. He was smiling the most glorious smile I had ever seen in my life. He was wearing burlap. Humble enough yes? But this burlap was so full of holes that half his frame from his knees to his neck was exposed, and had the wind shifted we should have closed our eyes. It was astonishing. He knew God! He had joy extreme in extreme poverty. Looking back, I'm almost certain he had never seen a text on Calvin, Arminius, on dispensations, or a Covenant of Works, or the Nicene creed, or any catechism. He probably shared one or two Bibles with his congregation. Perhaps they only had a New Testament or even only pages from one. I could be wrong. But I am sure he KNEW GOD!

HOW IRRELEVANT and unnecessary our preoccupations would have been in his life and the life of his congregants. And I'm seeing how it must be so for me. God did not save us to nitpick each other ad infinitum over doctrine. Have we let heretics and anti-christs and the devil chase us around to a misunderstanding of the word, the verbo (a spanish word)? And do we now as a result rely more on scholarship than on the Holy Spirit?

Juan 1
Reina-Valera 1960 (RVR1960)

1 En el principio era el Verbo, y el Verbo era con Dios, y el Verbo era Dios.

2 Este era en el principio con Dios.

Back to God and the Bible and away with powerless seminary educations. IMHO most people in heaven will never have discovered the difference between Covenantal Theology and dispensationalism. Nor will they have learned Greek or Hebrew. Now what may well be worthy of attack is replacement theology, which is an heresy arising out of the minds of Jew haters, surprisingly a doctrine of the "early church." Even that error can be simply exposed by the scripture without much doctrinaire commentary. It is such a demonic doctrine that I believe those who ascribe to it are afflicted and easily bound by devilish spirits; they are kept in a state of resistance to the truth: that saved Jews have a future a bit different gentiles in the Messianic Kingdom, and that Jews will be saved out of the great tribulation as a people after 2/3rds of them are killed.

Demons are doctrinaire! They bring false doctrines in through the minds of the untaught.

Now banishing demons requires an altogether different approach than scholarship, they require faith and the exercise of authority and in some cases prayer and fasting.

Can we see our great need of the Lord, even we who are so certain of  "our" salvation and "our" doctrine?

Salvation belongs to the Lord; Your blessing
be upon Your people!
Psalm 3:8

'After these things I heard something
like a loud voice
of a great multitude in heaven, saying,

“Hallelujah!
Salvation and glory and power
belong to our God!"'
Revelation 19:1

Amillennialism fails the test, Supersessionism also.

Reject me, crucify me, thrust me out, but let it ring in your ears that God is immutable and His word.

A school teacher can have 10,000 students, and yet have taught them all error. How sad also for the ones the students will teach.

Romans 9  http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans%209&version=ASV

Romans 10  http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans%2010&version=ASV

Romans 11   http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans%2011&version=ASV

Psalm 119:89
For ever, O Jehovah, Thy word is settled in heaven.

Isaiah 40:8
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; but the word of our God shall stand forever.

Proverbs 30:5
Every word of God is tried: He is a shield unto them that take refuge in him.

Please don't take refuge in Calvin and Augustine or Luther. They are not shields. I am no shield. Faith is a shield, "Have faith in God." The sword is a defensive weapon too, perhaps I defend against the errors of the "early church fathers” and the error of all who are following them. But it is not the gospel that needs defending, it is our hearts.

Proverbs 4:23
American Standard Version (ASV)
23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; For out of it are the issues of life.

Are not the Holy Scriptures the gold, silver, and costly stones? How can we afford to build with such precious materials? Blessedly we can buy them all for a dollar! (NASB or NKJV or KJV Paperback) They are free on line! But it is their true and singular message which will cost us time and prayer mixed with faith to be able to build with them. It has been my experience that after close and prolonged examination of "the materials" I find it is God who writes them on my heart in memory and begins to associated them according to their meaning and "use." And though I read other men's writings, I trust that God will help, even cause me to "prove all things and hold fast to that which is good." TY Lord God for that!

John 7:16-18 (a verse to meditate on!)
American Standard Version (ASV)
16 Jesus therefore answered them and said, My teaching is not mine, but his that sent me.
17 If any man willeth to do his will, he shall know of the teaching, whether it is of God, or whether I speak from myself.
18 He that speaketh from himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh the glory of him that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

How humble Jesus was, the seven eros giants were under His Feet!
  • Jesus didn't get all liquored up to feel good, nor did He seek the words of men to sooth His feelings.
  • He didn't get all gussied up to look good, or do miracles as a show off.
  • He didn't preach and teach His own doctrine to be right
  • He didn't have to strive to stay in control, He was led of the Spirit and obedient to His Father.
  • He didn't have an agenda except to do His Abba's agenda/will.
  • He didn't take an advantage but laid His life down in obedience to His father.
  • And He didn't try to remain undisturbed, He was often "mobbed," yet when Abba called Him into solitude He obeyed Him.

Matthew 23

37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killeth the prophets, and stoneth them that are sent unto her! how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.
39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Luke 19
37 And as he was now drawing nigh, even at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works which they had seen;
38 saying, Blessed is the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
39 And some of the Pharisees from the multitude said unto him, Teacher, rebuke thy disciples.
40 And he answered and said, I tell you that, if these shall hold their peace, the stones will cry out.
41 And when he drew nigh, he saw the city and wept over it,
42 saying, If thou hadst known in this day, even thou, the things which belong unto peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
43 For the days shall come upon thee, when thine enemies shall cast up a bank about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,
44 and shall dash thee to the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

I am turning my anger at the devil who has deceived so many and still deceives many. My confidence is in God who loves me and has everlasting wrath stored up for satan, his angelic following and the unbelieving world.

Who wants to believe verse 6 of Zechariah 12? Israel again conquering the nations around her? Israel in ascendancy over the unbelieving gentiles who persecute her (see verse 9)(even TODAY)? Ah, but who longs for the redemptive sorrow and repentance of verse 10?

Zechariah 12
American Standard Version (ASV)
1 The burden of the word of Jehovah concerning Israel. Thus saith Jehovah, who stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him:
2 behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of reeling unto all the peoples round about, and upon Judah also shall it be in the siege against Jerusalem.
3 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all the peoples; all that burden themselves with it shall be sore wounded; and all the nations of the earth shall be gathered together against it.
4 In that day, saith Jehovah, I will smite every horse with terror, and his rider with madness; and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the peoples with blindness.
5 And the chieftains of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem are my strength in Jehovah of hosts their God.
6 In that day will I make the chieftains of Judah like a pan of fire among wood, and like a flaming torch among sheaves; and they shall devour all the peoples round about, on the right hand and on the left; and they of Jerusalem shall yet again dwell in their own place, even in Jerusalem.
7 Jehovah also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem be not magnified above Judah.
8 In that day shall Jehovah defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem: and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of Jehovah before them.
9 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplication; and they shall look unto me whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his first-born.
11 In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.
12 And the land shall mourn, every family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart;
13 the family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; the family of the Shimeites apart, and their wives apart;
14 all the families that remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.
Matthew 23:39
For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Can we think that Jesus who came to seek and to save the Lost SHEEP of the House of Israel was referring to gentiles in verse 40 below? I think not, He was speaking to Jews about His own kin, also Jews, and likely to those who would be hungry, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, because of the deprivations they would suffer for their faith in Him. I don't see that Jesus intention is to forget the gentiles here, but the Gospel IS for the Jew first and He came first unto His own. That the first (Jews) shall be last also (all Israel shall be saved) shows how close to the end of the church age we are.
Matthew 25

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it unto one of these my brethren, even these least, ye did it unto me.31 But when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit on the throne of his glory:

Jesus had the gentiles covered:

John 10
14 I am the good shepherd; and I know mine own, and mine own know me,
15 even as the Father knoweth me, and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.
16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice: and they shall become one flock, one shepherd.

It IS frightening to think that some may not be hearing Jesus voice, but the voices of Calvin, Luther, Augustine and Origen and others. You never met any of those men. Or that you are simply listening to these voices of the past in preference to the Scriptures which are inspired by Him who has the power of an endless life. For Him and for all I trust is of God, I STILL URGE YOU to pray that God the Holy Spirit teach you His word, not mine, not Calvins or ANY other mere man's. If you are not willing to ask Jesus for the truth, leaving it to Him to teach it by God the Holy Spirit, you can have no spiritual judgment at all! And if by asking and trusting Jesus and the Holy Spirit, they do not completely demolish the doctrines of supersessionism and amillennialism... I will simply continue with the Scriptures, the gospel of Jesus, his church, its rapture, the great tribulation, the salvation of all Israel, the return of the Lord and the Messianic Kingdom.
Apply all the 5 "solas" to the 6th sola. The 6th is the scripture. Apply in (1)faith for the (2)grace of the (3)Messiah and the (4) Holy Spirit for the (5) Glory of God the father that They teach you the Holy Scriptures. No man can do that as they can. As I have need of correction for my temper and for other matters, admit at least that God can correct any errors and heal any disease. Yet we do have to be willing to be corrected. So can you say Lord Jesus IF our doctrine is erroneous. please show us plainly. We want to please you, we want to know You and hear only Your voice that we may receive Your doctrine always.

Matthew 25
32 and before him shall be gathered all the nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats;
33 and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 for I was hungry, and ye gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in;
36 naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, and fed thee? or athirst, and gave thee drink?
38 And when saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 And when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it unto one of these my brethren, even these least, ye did it unto me.
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 for I was hungry, and ye did not give me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink;
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in; naked, and ye clothed me not; sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not unto one of these least, ye did it not unto me.
46 And these shall go away into eternal punishment: but the righteous into eternal life.

Anti-Semitism or WHAT??? Part 2

September 15, 2013 at 8:04am
As a result of PART 1 >>>--->  Part 2 !

Some of my friends have been rightly concerned over Messianic Jewish practices. There is error in the Messianic community. I attended a Messianic Bible Camp this summer and was relieved that they understood the grace of God and "faith plus nothing" which the church enjoys today. There was strong caution regarding Messianic believers and congregations that are "preaching law but practicing grace." And it was noted that not a few gentiles are attaching themselves to the "Torah keepers" and the Jewish "roots" movement, also the Holy name movement.

It need to be said and taught and thank God it that the Law of Moses was entirely put aside as obsolete by Jesus through His blood via the cross. The basis for forgiveness of sin is no more the blood of animals. If you break one of the ten commandments today it is by the grace of God and the blood of Jesus and with your faith and your faithful confession of that sin that you are forgiven and cleansed of all unrighteousness!

[ ... if you ask me the only way to keep the law is to stop sinning! ; ) ]

If there is error in Messianic congregations don't rejoice, there is a lot of "strange fire" in the gentile churches too. A VERY GREAT LOT. It is very sad that for over 1500 years the gentile churches have been influenced and very often dominated by anti-semites. Jesus IS a Jew in His humanity and can we say He is not a Jewish God-man today? He came incarnate to the family and nation God raised up through Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The enmity He tore down on the cross was the law of ordinances which barred the gentile unless he convert by the law. Though the barrier was removed and gentiles were grafted in by grace through faith alone, hatred did persist, and anti Christs arrived from without and arose from withinn the One New Man church. Pagan Rome and Greece  as I see it eventually wore the church down and then co opted the church by declaring christianity the religion of the empire. So we had the beginnings of the Roman heresy through Origen who formulated the allegorical replacement of Israel. That idea declared falsely that God was done with the Jews as a people as a family and that the church was given to gentiles. That idea has been the cause of more error and cruel sin against Jews, against true believers and even against muslims that can be known. An all the while complicating the matter was the Jewish unbelieving world which passionately opposed Jewish faith in the Messiah.

In their hearts of these gentile churchmen we call the early church fathers was a surprising amount of outright hatred and vocal castigating of the Jews. Pagans had long hated the Jews before Christ came in the flesh; the scriptures in my note show that they were excessively cruel in their treatment of the Jews. CAREFULL study the scriptures I selected for Part 1. Before the Messiah they even excused their evil mistreatments on the basis of Jewish unfaithfulness to God! After Jesus ascended and Jerusalem was destroyed this was amplified by gentile christians(?) who notoriously called Jews "Christ killers!!! It would be laughable were it not so PATHETIC a misunderstanding of the purposes of God in the Messiah!

Unbelieving Jews had a passionate interest in keeping Jews out of the church too! Oddly and SADLY the MANY Jews then and now who oppose(d) the church's efforts to evangelize Jews are blindly opposing the only thing that can save and bless them into the Lambs book of life! Jews who still reject the Lord, who see the devil in every gentile believer, are anti-Jesus, anti-church and anti their only hope for life! In the few words I wrote above I wrote that anti-semitism is anti-Judaism and anti-Christian (anti-Messianic) and it is Anti-One New Man (Eph. 2:15) !!!!!  And unbelieving Jews unwittingly are also anti semites in that they are anti Jesus and anti those Jews who believe in Jesus!!!!

This is from beginning to end a spiritual problem in which unbelieving Jewish AND gentile flesh are embroiled. They cannot and will not see that until faith in the Messiah and the knowledge of the truth sets them free!

Satan hates the Jews. When I find myself thinking unkind things about Jews I chalk it up to satanic influence and correct my thoughts renouncing them. By the study of church and Jewish history, and gentile history, and BC history too, we can expose anti-semitism as the work of the devil and men who have forgotten God (Psalm 9:17).

Anti-semitism is a sin on two counts. First it is hatred, which is a sin itself. Second this hatred with its roots in Satan, hinders the knowledge of God, the unity of the One New Man and effective love motivated evangelism to both Jews and gentiles. This ENMITY which exists only in unbelief, opposes wittingly and ignorantly the faith of God and the building up of the One New Man. One New Man is a NAME of the church of Jesus Christ established and built by Him.

The  misunderstanding and ignorance hindering unity in the gentile and in the messianic church movements can be overcome. Reading Ephesians 2 we see that Jew and gentile must be One and remain together in Christ for the One New Man to have an active presence  and witness to the world today. I'm thinking John 17 and some of John 10. It is true that there is now no Jew or Greek, male or female, slave or free. Yet those identities persist in the world with enmity, and persist in the churches with enmity.  The purposes of God that we be One must and will overcome the prejudices which hinder when in AGAPE love we expose and condemn those anti-semitic prejudices.  Ephesians 5:11 "Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them."  WE ARE to deal with this because it is a hindrance to the comfort of the church and to salvation!  Salvation is offered to ALL who receive Jesus in faith. But the very issues which hinder that faith are the sins of men, in particular the sins of Jew hatred, and of Jewish unbelief !

leaving the City of Destruction...

Do you know about the City of Destruction and what famous literary character left it, and what he left it for?

It took me a very long time to extract my emotions and intellect from the concerns of politicians, and the concerns of those who bribe them with contributions and then lobby them for special treatment.

It is a very dangerous thing to preach the gospel and run for office, or to preach and take a side with one party or another. Almost any man or woman in power would do wonders IF they obeyed God. But I have never seen a politician I believed was faithful to God in public office. Prayer for them is the answer, for if they are elected or appointed or inherit power through a Royal family, it is God who holds them in the palm of His hand. Involving the church with political wars, and politics is war, can only set the congregants and congregations at war with each other. THAT is a sin against God. IT is a tool of Satan. Satan is the chief HE "that soweth discord among brethren," a sin that God HATES.

Proverbs 6
16 There are six things which Jehovah hateth; Yea, seven which are an abomination unto him:
17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood;
18 A heart that deviseth wicked purposes, Feet that are swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness that uttereth lies, And he that soweth discord among brethren.

IMHO, Martin Luther King would have been more effective staying in the pulpit and preaching the Gospel than in the street. Af Ams are no better off today for integration. The case can be made they are worse off by seeking the government tit rather than the Lord. And many white are worse off to for being dependent on the government and those whom the government taxes.

There is only ONE race the HUMAN race. All the strife over money and power for this that or the other ethnic family is plain and simply greed, be it the insatiable lust for what others have, or the stinginess which causes the rich to hoard goods and hold power. The bloodshed over things and power to have things has been false flagged by many so called just causes, but in the end there is strife between persons, families, cultures and nations because of the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life. Eve was deceived right along those three lines and Adam bought the ticket by eating with her.
